Bret Yount

I am, at heart, a storyteller. Although I have trained as a scientist, an actor and a fight director, my goal is always to tell the story. I have always felt that a big part of my job is to serve the director’s concept by telling the story whilst keeping the actors and audience safe, both physically and psychologically. The transcendent moment for me is that point in the rehearsal room when the writer’s words, the director’s vision, the actors’ capabilities and my expertise coalesce into something that makes the audience gasp while offering the actors a way to safely tell the story. Those moments are what make me love my job and keeps me in love with theatre.
